Social Skills: Teaching in an Intentional, Effective, and Engaging Way (ARCHIVE)

Social Skills: Teaching in an Intentional, Effective, and Engaging Way (ARCHIVE)

Teaching social skills can be a daunting task, as often it isn’t discrete and there are so many nuances to it.

What do you do, after you have taught conversation skills, greetings and joint attention?  How do you get to the other issues such as perspective taking, problem solving, empathy, impulse control, and understanding social cues?  This presentation will help BCBA®s, BCABAs and candidates with students kindergarten and up pinpoint their student’s social skills needs and offer a variety of highly engaging and effective lessons to teach the skill deficits. It will also incorporate both group and individual lessons, as well as tips for generalization in the school setting. It provides support for teaching students about skills ranging from flexibility to perspective taking to self regulation.
