In part one, you have learned about how to conduct a component-composite analysis. In this webinar, we will further analyze the component skills and identify the kind of learning inherent in each component. The taxonomy of learning that we will use is Tiemann and Markle’s Kinds of Learning. This analysis of learning moves beyond Bloom’s taxonomy of learning, and examines the conditions under which each response should occur. We will talk about the Kinds of Learning and further dive into each column to identify how we program for each specific kind of learning. At the end, attendees should be able to identify the specific kind of learning inherent in a wide variety of skills, and program for them accordingly.
Learning Objectives
- State and give examples and non-examples of column one (i.e., psychomotor) skills in Tiemann and Markle's Kind of Learning Analysis
- State and give examples and non-examples of column two (i.e., Simple cognitive) skills in Tiemann and Markle's Kind of Learning Analysis
- State and give examples and non-examples of column three (i.e., Complex Cognitive) skills in Tiemann and Markle's Kind of Learning Analysis
About the Presenter
Dr. Bulla provided a very good condensed introduction to kinds of learning based on Tiemann and Markle's 1990 matrix. He interspersed many examples and non-examples and included multiple opportunities for active participant (student) responding (ASR) with instructor feedback. He adjusted his instruction (e.g., clarified a concept) when there were more than a few incorrect participant responses. He actually applied high quality instructional design features within this live webinar. He modeled the kind of instruction that I wish all behavior analysts would use when they present at conferences, provide web training, supervise RBTs and behavior analysts, and more. Well done!
Amazing presentation! I learned new Instructional Design strategies that I am going to apply to my own practice and teaching.
It was indeed informative, what an amazing session thank you !
