Oppositional Defiant Disorder is a DSM V diagnosis that refers to children who display uncooperative, defiant, and hostile behavior toward peers, parents, teachers, and other authority figures. These behaviors can often be self-defeating and yet the behaviors persist. In the current talk, the diagnosis will be explored. Overlap with other diagnoses and possible etiologies will be explored. The treatment literature will be explored, with an eye on overlap with trauma-based conditions and trauma-informed care.
3 Learning Objectives
- Attendees will describe the ODD diagnosis.
- Attendees will design data-based procedures from tracking ODD-associated behavior.
- Attendees will design treatment plans based on an FBA of ODD-associated behavior.
About the Presenter
Interesting information that is well presented.
Valuable insight on a more difficult topic that we work with often in schools as BCBA's. Dr. Newman was funny, knowledgeable, relatable and engaging which is exactly what you want in a CEU!
i would like to have had more examples and more explaintion for the proposed other functions- your explainations were difficult to follow. Too much focus on cultural references and not enough on more understanding of real application
Working with Emotional Support students in the school setting, I have several students with ODD. It's very interesting to learn strategies to managing ODD through ABA based methods. Enjoyed hearing personal stories about the presenters experiences.
I would have liked to see more videos of these strategies being used directly with children/teens/students
I found this course to be both entertaining and educational- a winning combination for an online CEU.
This is a great overview of how ABA can be applied to ODD.
