If you’re new to professional development, this is the place to begin!

Registered Behavior Technicians must now begin taking approved professional development courses as part of their recertification cycle. For many RBTs, this is the first time they’ve been required to pursue professional growth in a structured, consistent way. This course teaches participants the rationale and importance of ongoing professional development, setting their personal career growth in the broader context of the field of ABA. Participants will learn how to think about their own development in the short term and long term. They will learn how to use a planning method across three areas of their professional life: the science of ABA, professional skills, and ABA subspecialties. Throughout, participants will have opportunities to identify potential areas of professional development that are interesting and important to them, which will be available as a downloadable Professional Development Plan.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will learn the rationale and importance of professional development in applied behavior analysis
  2. Participants will learn a method for planning and organizing their learning across three areas of their professional life.
  3. Participants will identify 6 areas of their professional life that they are interested in learning more about.
